Milling and paving continues this week. The railroad has begun work on the Hwy 213 and S Center St crossings. 

No traffic will be allowed today ( 10-6-26 ), with the exception of trucks used in the construction process.  At the end of the day, it will be closed to ALL traffic until the railroad has completed the reconstruction of the crossings. They should reopen to traffic either late Friday, the 9th, or the next day. (Saturday)

Please see map for the route around this area for local access.  This route is only for school buses and local traffic.  This is NOT a truck route.  Continue to follow truck detour routes.

Milling and paving could begin in Orfordville as early as October 12th.  Temporary no parking signs will be placed as needed along the route.  Please note when these are in place as no parking will be allowed at this time.  Additional parking options are the Municipal lot by the fire station, Village Hall, Purdy Park and side streets. 

The goal is to have all residents along the construction route to have as much access to their driveways as possible.  You will likely only be able to travel to/from your driveway in one direction at times and will be blocked for a short time while in front of your location.  Mail delivery will occur during construction as crews direct traffic around the active areas.  Garbage pickup will be minimally impacted.  You can place your totes in the same area as you normally would, and crews will move them as needed to the other side of the road when they are at your location.  Drive with caution as the road lanes will be uneven.

STH 213 remains closed to through traffic. Local access is still permitted for residents, businesses, visitors, and others who have a destination within the construction area. Using STH 213 simply as a route through Orfordville to reach a destination outside the Village is not considered local access.

Access to individual side roads may change as construction progresses, so drivers should continue to follow posted barricades and construction signage.

President Burtness updated those present on the following:

• Several have inquired on the status of Rime St. Unfortunately, it will remain closed until the ground in the area stabilizes.  All the rain has caused the ground to be soft and shouldn’t be driven across due to how unstable it is.

• We appreciate all the hard work of our DPW staff during recent weeks.  Keeping the lawns mowed has been quite the task.  They have done a significant amount of work coordinating around the Hwy 213 project, overseeing the details that need to be worked out as the project progresses.  This is an addition to the day to day operations that always need attention.

• The village website home page has new information expressing appreciation for everyone in our community for the effort they do to make our community a great place to live, work, and play.  The UPDATES tab includes construction updates for those who don’t receive updates via email or are not on social media.  Check them out when you get a chance.

• Burtness Car Show and Airing of the Quilts this Saturday Oct 3rd.
