Regular Board Meeting

Monday, July 13, 2026  7:00 P.M.

CALL TO ORDER

                President Dennis Burtness called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.  Present were President Burtness, David Olsen, Beth Schmidt, Nick Howard, Nikki Tuffree, Terry Morris, and Tory Baars.  Also present were Chief Jeremiah Burdick and Clerk Sherri Waege.

AGENDA VERIFICATION

Clerk Waege verified that on July 10, 2026, copies of the agenda were delivered to the Presidents and Trustees; and posted at the Village Hall, Library, and the Post Office.  There were no additions made to the agenda.

MINUTE APPROVAL

                Motion by  Tuffree, seconded by Morris to approve the June 22, 2026 Regular Board Meeting Minutes.  Motion carried.

CITIZENS WISHING TO BE HEARD

                None.

NEW BUSINESS

                Ordinance requiring setbacks for grills and smokers.   President Burtness explained that a resident contacted the Village to requested that the Village consider an ordinance that provides for setbacks for grills and smokers.  The resident is having an issue with a neighbor having their smoker near her fence.   There is no ordinance that addresses setbacks for smokers and grills, only fire pits.   Discussion held on whether this is an individual behavior issue or if this is a larger problem that would require an ordinance. Schmidt explained that she felt we should not be creating an ordinance for one person’s issue which is behavioral.  Chief Burdick explained that he can address it with the person directly and that there are ordinances in place that address creating nuisances.  No action was taken.

DEPARTMENT HEAD REPORTS

                President explained the following:  “The brush site is cleaned up, including the brush from the recent storm.  We continue to find various kinds of debris, all of which could be picked up on the monthly Bulk Day from John’s Disposal.  Please use this instead of the brush site as that adds to the expense of cleaning up the brush as that has to be processed and disposed of separately.  The yard waste site should not have plastic bags left there when the grass, etc. is dropped off.  Rime St potholes have been patched as we still don’t have a resurfacing date yet.  The electrical service to Purdy Park failed, Alliant was there this past week to remedy this.”

                Motion by Morris, seconded by Howard to approve the Department Head Reports.  Motion carried.

VOUCHERS

                Motion by Tuffree, seconded by Baars to approve the vouchers with a check range of 40318-40338.  Motion Carried.

ADJOURN

                Motion by Howard, seconded by Schmidt to adjourn at 7:17 p.m. Motion carried.
